Scones

Scones

This week we made scones in home economics, the products that we used were, 3 c plain flour, 6 t Baking powder , 1/4 t salt , 75g of cold butter and 1 to 1 1/2 milk.

You have sift flour, baking soda and salt into the bowl, make sure you cut up the butter into small squares, rub the butter with the flour etc with your finger tips until it shows breadcrumbs.

Our group worked not so good because we had a lot of talkers you could say
even I was a bit of a talker but that means that I

Testing for simple sugars

Testing for simple sugars….

1: Place about 2 ml of the sample into a test tube and then add 5 drops of Benedict’s solution.

2:heat with a hotplate until it changes colour.

I think that it will change colour and do something weird.

Conclusions:They turned out all positive(Bread,Apple and Potato), but milk turned blue because it has protein in it.

Egg had protein just like milk, but sugar had no protein as well.

If it is a simple sugar it will turn blue then red/orange but
if nothing happens that means it's positive.

Testing for Protein

1: Place around 2 ml of the sample into the a test tube and add 5 drops of sodium hydroxide.

2:Add 5 drops of copper sulphate.

3:Shake the test tube and shake it gently.

Milk:Positive Potato:negative Egg:Positive Bread:negative

Glucose: negative.
Conclusion:Not all if the tests turned out to be positive and I'm surprised that bread had no protein, my hypothesis was right that not all of them were wrong and .

The Cheeseburger Test

Cheese burger test...

First we have to explain what is Protein, Lipids and carbohydrates.
Proteins, they help repair muscle and make you stronger than you originally were.
Carbohydrates, it's starch and cellulose and can give energy.
Lipids, they are like oils and fatty acids.

Methods:

Aim: to see what the normal cheeseburger has.

Hypothesis:I think that it will have protein, carbs and lipids in it, like cheese might have lipids or the meat patty will probably.

Results:Bread of burger:Complex, simple. Meat:Not complex Not simple. Cheese: Not complex.

Aim: to see if different foods have simple sugars, complex sugars or protein in it.

Hypothesis:
It’s a complex sugar

I think they will have multiple things inside it when we test the foods.

Apple might act weird or something cool.

Bread will probably be the hardest to test.

Potato might have complex sugars.

Egg might be easier and most probaly have protein.

Milk will probably will have lots of protein and other good things for your body.

Glucose-Lollies
Apple- Complex sugar
Bread-Complex sugar
Potato- Complex sugar
Egg- Complex
Milk-
Sugar-Not complex

1. Land with your arms and  your feet facing up land on your back.

2.When you take off it should be on 1 foot.
3.When you leave the ground you must spin around and use your knee to turn.

For sprints I got 17 seconds for 100m and 47 seconds  for Long distance.

Question:A conclusion on what the Whare Tapa Wha' is and how it illustrates haura?

Whare Tapa Wha is about your wellbeing.
This is useful to understand because it could help with how you talk to people or how quickly you could do your work.

Well I listened to music  I guess I participated okay during our wellbeing time.
I contributed by listening and doing what I chose to do for my 10 minute  wellbeing.

Question:What is your current state of your haura?

My haura is okay is that all I need to work on is my social wellbeing I guess.
I could do this by talking to my friends , friends and well being better at social.
